Wearable Technology

Boathouse paired with Philadelphia University students to develop wearable technology for their rowing clothing line. The project consisted of concept, design, and development. This was a group project. I was responsible for designing the application and developing the technology and my group members were responsible for the garment design and construction. The technology that I developed uses FLORA sensors to gather data about the synchronization of rowers on a boat. The garment has the capability of gauging if the rowers are moving at the same pace, which rower is falling out of synchronization, and by how much. The garment also incorporates a set of LEDs that respond to the motion of the rower, adding a visual representation of their movements, as well as providing visibility while on the water. This important information is outputted in real time to a data visualization graph.
